FRV crews contain explosive shed fire in Blackburn South

FRV crews worked quickly to contain an explosive shed fire on Blackburn Road in Blackburn South this morning.

Multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a backyard tin shed, containing flammable liquids and exploding gas bottles, was fully alight just after 7.56am.

FRV crews arrived on scene within six minutes to find the shed ablaze and only two metres away from neighbouring properties.

Wearing breathing apparatus, 22 FRV firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire and make the scene safe.

The fire was declared under control at 8.13am, within seven minutes of crew’s arrival.

Thankfully, firefighters were able to prevent the fire spreading to neighbouring properties.

Ambulance Victoria also attended.

Fire Investigators are on scene to investigate the cause of the incident.
