Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to a building fire at Dempsey Avenue in Truganina this morning after multiple calls were made to Triple Zero (000).
Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke and flames issuing from a double storey brick veneer house, and immediately called for additional resources.
FRV crews donned breathing apparatus and entered the burning house with hose lines to attack the fire which by now was well alight.
All occupants were able to evacuate safely from the home without injury, with a search of the premises ensuring no persons were inside.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the ground floor of the home, declaring it under control at 8.12AM, 23 minutes after arriving on scene.
The ground floor of the house has sustained significant damage in the fire.
The fire started in a marquee in the rear yard of the property, before quickly spreading to the house.
The marquee has been destroyed in the blaze.
Firefighters will remain on scene for some time fully extinguishing the fire.
CFA firefighters assisted on scene with firefighting operations.
