FRV crews extinguish fire in Altona

FRV crews responded to Altona just before 10:30am, following reports of smoke coming from Kororoit Creek Road.

Firefighters arrived on scene in eight minutes to find a palette containing an absorbent material was smouldering and issuing smoke.

FRV’s Hazmat Unit and Scientific Officer provided advice at the scene, and firefighters worked quickly to separate the affected palette and douse it with water to extinguish the fire.

The incident was declared under control approximately 10 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene.

At the height of the incident there were six firefighting appliances at the scene, along with a Hazmat Unit and two additional support units.

Ambulance Victoria assisted FRV at the scene.
