FRV fights Thomastown factory fire

The incident was deemed under control at 7.59pm.

Firefighters will remain on scene to fully extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of the area.

Victoria Police are also on scene.

7.30pm

At 6.33pm Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to Austarc Avenue, Thomastown, after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a factory fire.

Crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find a 20m x 40m factory well alight and quickly escalated the response.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are working to attack the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby factories.

A community safety warning has been issued for smoke in the area.

One occupant had self-evacuated and is in the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

Currently, the cause of the fire is unknown.
