At 10.40pm on 4 April, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a house fire in Truganina.

Due to the volume of reports made to Triple Zero, extra resources were immediately deployed to the address in Prairie Place Truganina.

Panicked callers described the house as being fully alight and possibly children inside the home.

The first FRV firefighters arrived on scene within 5 minutes of dispatch to find a single storey brick veneer house fully ablaze, with the fire threatening nearby homes on 3 sides.

Firefighters immediately got to work with hose lines to protect adjoining properties from fire spread and bring the blaze under control.

Once the fire was knocked down, crews in breathing apparatus entered the house and conducted a search to confirm no persons inside.

All four occupants of the home were able to self-evacuate. One male resident was transported to hospital with airway burns and burns to his arms, and two female occupants were treated by AV for smoke inhalation.

It has been reported the fire started in a workshop at the address where an occupant was working before he alerted the rest of the household to the fire.

The fire was declared under control at 11:16pm, 30 minutes after FRV crews arrived on scene.

The home has received extensive damage in the incident.

CFA firefighters, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted on scene.
