At 12.21pm, FRV crews responded to multiple calls for a significant amount of smoke issuing from the rear of a factory at Nantilla Road in Clayton.

They arrived at 12.26pm.

The factory had several truck bodies stored in the yard which had caught fire, threatening to extend to a nearby factory.

A second alarm response was initiated.

Crews in breathing apparatus tackled the fire and one teleboom was deployed.

The factory had filled with smoke prompting evacuations, and fortunately there was no early sign of fire extension into the building.
