Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) has deployed its first contingent of staff to support the bushfire response in Queensland.

Some FRV personnel are part of Incident Management Teams and will take roles in planning and logistics. Others will be involved in Air operations and will be directing firebombing helicopters and planes.

FRV personnel will work closely with local crews and members of other Victorian Emergency Services in Toowoomba and Rockhampton. FRV staff currently working in CFA have also been deployed as part of CFA’s contingent to support Queensland.

The deployment is a great example of FRV supporting interagency and interstate cooperation.

During events such as the bushfire emergency in Queensland, FRV will provide support by deploying resources, supplementing personnel and providing incident management capability.

These highly skilled specialists provide a great deal of experience as they assist our interstate colleagues.

Additional FRV staff are expected to be deployed in the coming weeks.

Parts of Queensland are experiencing significantly challenging conditions and we are doing what we can to provide support to our interstate colleagues during emergencies such as this.

We wish all the deployed personnel well, and our thoughts remain with all communities impacted by bushfires at this time.
