FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Yarraville this afternoon following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) shortly before 3.40pm.

Firefighters were on scene in three minutes and arrived to find a car under a carport well alight, with the fire spreading to the single storey weatherboard house.

Five FRV appliances, one FRV aerial appliance and one FRV rescue appliance attended the scene.

Firefighters entered the building in breathing apparatus to conduct a search of the home and bring the fire under control.

Fortunately, no one was inside the building as all occupants had evacuated safely prior to FRV’s arrival.

Firefighters worked quickly to stop the fire spreading to neighbouring properties which were under threat from the blaze.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the front section of the home and fire was brought under control at 4.21pm.

The house suffered significant damage to the front and roof sections and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
