Approximately 30 firefighters responded to a Hazmat incident in Derrimut early on Thursday morning.

FRV crews were called to the Fulton Drive incident just before 5:10am, after reports of an oil leak from a tank on the road.

Firefighters arrived on scene in five minutes and working with the local power company, determined an electrical pole transformer was leaking oil.

Working with a specialist FRV Scientific Officer, FRV Hazmat crews created an exclusion zone around the spill, and worked to contain it.

FRV crews worked with Victoria Police and EPA on scene.

Firefighters will remain on scene to ensure it is safe.
