Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a structure fire at 3.16pm on Denbigh Road, Armadale after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a unit fire.
The event was quickly escalated to a second alarm structure fire. Nearby units were evacuated by attending crews.
The second and third storey of a three level brick unit block were involved with the fire extending into the roof space.
The fire was quickly knocked down by crews in breathing apparatus, and the scene was deemed Under Control at 4.03pm.
At the peak of the response, there were 9 appliances and 26 firefighters on scene.
One nearby resident was treated for smoke inhalation. Firefighters conducted a primary search of the unit block but there were no initial reports of occupants unaccounted for.
The power company and a building surveyor were requested to attend.
FRV's Fire Investigation Unit was notified.
