Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to multiple triple zero calls for a building fire in Coburg shortly after 10am.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke issuing from a single storey brick unit.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus attacked the fire as it began to quickly spread through the home and into the roof of the structure.
Crews also worked to stop the fire spreading to other units under threat from the fire in the housing complex.
A search of the home confirmed no persons inside.
Residents were evacuated from all neighbouring units by firefighters.
Two residents were treated by Ambulance Victoria for smoke inhalation.
The fire was declared under control at 10.34am, 24 minutes after FRV arrived on scene.
The single storey unit has been extensively damaged in the fire.
The fire has been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
