FRV responds to restaurant kitchen fire in Footscray

FRV responded to a fire in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant in Footscray following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) reporting smoke and flames shortly after 5pm. 

An automatic fire sprinkler system alarm activated simultaneously from the building on Hopkins Street, assisting in the extinguishment of the fire. 

FRV firefighters were on the scene within five minutes and the fire was quickly brought under control. 

13 FRV appliances attended the incident.

The fire was contained to the kitchen area and was caused by the ignition of cooking oil on a gas cooker. 

No injuries have been reported. 

Crews remain on scene to assist with smoke and water removal.
