FRV swiftly contains Williamstown North factory fire

Firefighters contained a significant factory in Williamstown North within 21 minutes on Friday evening.

Multiple callers reported the Macaulay Road fire to Triple Zero Victoria shortly after 7pm, prompting FRV to dispatch additional resources immediately.

FRV crews arrived on scene to discover a single storey factory 20 x 15 metres in size of steel construction fully ablaze.

Firefighters immediately began an aggressive external attack on the fire with the aid of firefighting foam.

Through the quick work of FRV crews, the fire was declared under control at 07:38pm.

The building has received extensive damage in the blaze, but firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to neighbouring factories.

The safety of the building structure will be assessed by the Municipal Building Surveyor, and crews remain on scene.

There were several factory workers on site at the time of the fire, all of whom evacuated without injury.

The cause of the fire is yet to determined but will be investigated by FRV's specialist Fire Investigators.
