House fire in Balaclava extingished

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to an incident in Balaclava just after 4:15pm on Saturday afternoon following calls to Triple Zero (000).

Crews arrived on scene to find a two-storey building fully involved in fire. 

The fire had spread to trees and the smoke was affecting nearby residences. A Community Advice was issued for smoke in the area. 

Wearing breathing apparatus (BA) a total of 30 firefighters fought the flames, bringing the incident under control in 45 minutes.

The building was unoccupied and no injuries have been reported. 

FRV firefighters remained on scene to undertake extinguishment and clean up. 

Victoria Police assisted with short term evacuations of nearby residences and traffic control.
