House fire in Meadow Heights under control quickly

Firefighters were called to Castella Court in Meadow Heights at around 5:15am on Tuesday morning, following a call to triple zero (000) reporting smoke issuing from a home.

Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find fire had taken hold of the property.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection from the smoke, firefighters commenced an internal search and began to attack the blaze.

Thankfully no one was found inside the property.

Crews worked to bring the fire under control within half an hour of the first call to triple zero.

At the height of the fire there were seven firefighting appliances on scene, in addition to four command and support units.

Crews remained on scene to monitor for any hot spots and ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

Firefighters believe the fire may have started under suspicious circumstances, and the scene will be handed to Victoria Police for further investigation.
