Firefighters were quick to the scene of a fire in Point Cook this afternoon after a caller to triple zero (000) reported smoke coming from a two storey home.

FRV crews responded to the Peppers Avenue home just after 4:30pm, and arrived on scene in less than seven minutes.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters located a fire in a kitchen that had spread to a second floor roof space.

Firefighters from FRV and CFA worked together to bring the fire under control within one hour.

The occupant of the house safely evacuated to the front of the home, thankfully without injury.

Damage from the fire has been contained to the kitchen and second floor.

Investigations into the cause of the fire continue, and firefighters will remain on scene to monitor any remaining hot spots.

At the height of the fire there were approximately 50 firefighters on scene, including five pumpers, a rescue and aerial unit from FRV, in addition to six other units.

CFA crews, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police also assisted FRV at the scene.
