Initial responding crews arrived on scene and found the fire had taken hold of a garage on the ground floor of a two storey home on Fairbank Crescent.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection from the smoke, firefighters commenced attacking the fire, while a separate unit entered the home above the fire to search for occupants.

Thankfully, all occupants were accounted for and no injuries were reported.

The fire quickly spread to the roof space, and began to threaten a neighbouring property.

Conditions at the property were challenging for firefighters, and a large accumulation of items made access difficult and increased the fuel load.

Crews brought the fire under control just before 8pm however will remain on scene into the evening to completely extinguish the fire.

FRV’s specialist State-wide Fire Investigation Unit will analyse the scene and work to determine a cause.

At the height of the incident there were eight FRV firefighting appliances at the scene including an aerial and a rescue appliance, along with three Command and support units.

CFA, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also attended the scene.
