Houses ablaze in Melton South

Firefighters from FRV supported by CFA are currently on scene in Melton South where a fire has spread to several houses.

Crews were called to a home in Leggatt Street at 3.14pm and arrived within 7 minutes to find the property well involved in fire which was spreading to neighbouring houses.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control within an hour.

At this stage it’s believed all occupants are accounted for.

More than 30 firefighters are on scene.

Victoria Police will investigate the cause of the incident.

Incident Controller Trent McKinnon reminded community members to ensure they have working smoke alarms in every bedroom and living area of their home.
