Approximately 26 FRV firefighters responded to a restaurant fire in Williamstown on Friday afternoon.

Several callers to Triple Zero (000) reported flames coming from the roof of a building in Parker Street, just before 3:00pm.

FRV crews arrived to find the occupants of the building had safely evacuated, and wearing breathing apparatus, entered the building to find the fire in the roof area.

They brought the fire under control in 25 minutes, before handing the scene over to the local council for further management.

Firefighters determined the blaze started in the building’s kitchen.
