Crews arrived on scene in five minutes following reports of fire issuing from the roof of a warehouse and requested additional resources to gain access to the 25m x 25m brick building, allowing fire fighters in Breathing Apparatus enter the structure.
A total of 10 appliances and 30 firefighters attended with the fire declared under control in just under an hour. Appliances dispatched included a teleboom, a rescue, several pumpers and several support and Command units.
FRV specialist fire investigators are working determine a cause.
Public Transport Victoria suspended trams for a short time due to fire fighting operations impacting Sydney Rd.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria attended and assisted FRV operations.
