Mentone house fire brought under control

Approximately 34 firefighters responded to an incident in Mentone just after 10.30pm on Saturday night after multiple calls Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.

Crews arrived on scene within six minutes to find flames issuing from a two-storey residence, which had spread to the roof space of the home. Firefighters quickly escalated the response.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters attacked the blaze bringing the fire under control 45 minutes after they first arrived on scene.

Fortunately, the house was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported.

The home sustained extensive damage and the cause of the fire is under investigation by fire investigators.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were also on scene assisting with operations.
