Monash Freeway truck fire under control

Approximately 18 firefighters were despatched to a truck fire on the Monash Freeway in Glen Iris at 6:21am this morning.

Following several calls from concerned members of the public initial reports FRV crews located the vehicle in an inbound lane with a significant amount of smoke issuing prompting a smoke warning from authorities. 

Arriving within six minutes and wearing breathing apparatus firefighters located the source of the blaze within the metal skip bins at the rear of the vehicle and proceeded to cordon off the area and treat the fire with specialised fire suppressing foam.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within nine minutes. There were no reported injuries. 

FRV was supported by Victoria Police and VicRoads. 

Traffic is now moving freely.
