A fire that ignited in a shed in Mordialloc was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes.

Firefighters responded to the Waratah Avenue address just before 4am, following a call to Triple Zero (000).

Crews were met with a shed fire that was well alight, and threatening the home and unit on the property.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection from the smoke, crews worked quickly to protect the properties and knock the shed fire down.

Thankfully, the two occupants safely evacuated and met firefighters at the front of the property.

Firefighters checked the scene for fire extension and found the blaze had not spread into the roof of the home.

Crews remained on scene until the fire was completely extinguished and monitored for remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire has been deemed as accidental.

At the height of the fire there were almost 30 firefighters on scene, on board seven firefighting appliances including a rescue and an aerial unit.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene assisting FRV with operations.
