FRV firefighters arrived on scene to find a fire approximately four acres in size spreading quickly due to windy conditions.

Air support and additional resources were called to assist in attacking the fire.

Helitacs (firefighting helicopters) worked to water bomb the area and assist with the response.

FRV crews worked closely with Country Fire Authority (CFA) firefighters to knock the fire down.

Their efforts ensured the fire was brought under control at 1:20pm.

There is a large amount of smoke in the area.

Residents affected are advised to close their windows and doors, and switch off any reverse cycle air conditioning units.

If you need medical advice for burns or exposure to smoke, seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024.

Anyone experiencing wheezing, chest tightness and difficulty breathing should call Triple Zero (000).

The community is also advised that power lines are currently down on Rudd and Wheller Roads, and  power outages may be affecting the local area.

Wanganui Road, Kittles Road, and Rudd Road are currently closed, and the community is advised to keep the roads clear for emergency services.

Victoria Police are also on scene supporting traffic management around the area.
