The flyer has been created to raise awareness of Essential Safety Measures (ESMs) and provide an accessible resource to help building owners, managers and occupants understand their responsibilities.

Essential Safety Measures (ESMs) are the systems and features in a building, such as fire doors, alarms, sprinklers and exit lighting, that must be maintained to ensure safety in the event of a fire or emergency.

Despite clear regulations, Victoria continues to face challenges with ESM compliance, which can place lives, property and firefighters at risk.

The flyer outlines the first steps to achieving compliance and highlights why well-maintained safety systems are critical to protecting communities.

Community members, businesses and industry practitioners are encouraged to download, print or share the flyer widely with tenants, property managers, and stakeholders.

By sharing the message and improving compliance, together we can save lives and property
