Approximately 13 firefighters responded to an apartment fire in Braybrook on Sunday night.

A neighbour called Triple Zero (000) to report heavy smoke coming from the Ballarat Road apartment just after 9:50pm.

FRV crews arrived on scene in six minutes and rescued one person from the apartment, who they transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

The rest of the building was evacuated, and wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters attacked the fire and contained it to a couch within the apartment.

The incident was declared four minutes after firefighters first arrived on scene.
