One person rescued from Fitzroy North house fire

28 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Fitzroy North in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) report heavy smoke and flames coming from the double storey brick terrace at about 12.50am.

FRV crews arrived on scene in four minutes and wearing breathing apparatus commenced an internal search of the property.

One occupant was found on the balcony of the terrace home. With assistance from Victoria Police, the occupant was safely evacuated.

Firefighters attacked the fire and contained it to the second floor front bedroom.

The incident was declared under control approximately 40 minutes after firefighters first arrived on scene.

FRV crews remained on scene overnight to fully extinguish the flames, monitor for hotspots and ventilate the property.

One patient was transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.
