Reservoir house fire under control in 40 minutes

Fire Rescue Victoria crews were dispatched just before 3:20pm this afternoon following multiple calls to triple zero (000) reporting smoke issuing from the roof of a home.

Firefighters arrived to a single storey weatherboard in Gilbank Street, Reservoir within five minutes and called on further resources to assist in extinguishing the fire which had taken hold in the roof space.

Thankfully, the resident had evacuated safety prior to the arrival of firefighters, and no injuries were reported on scene.

The incident was declared under control within 40 minutes of the crews’ arrival, and the cause has been deemed accidental. 

At the height of the fire there were approximately 34 firefighters on scene, on board 10 firefighting appliances, including rescue and aerial units.

Victoria Police were also on scene assisting in firefighting operations.
