Resident evacuated from Avondale Heights house fire

FRV crews responded to a house fire in Gaetana St, Avondale Heights just before 8pm last night, arriving on scene within five minutes.

An escalated response was requested as the fire had already engulfed the front of the single storey brick veneer home.

FRV crews entered the home wearing Breathing Apparatus to attack the fire and were able to contain the fire to the front of the home.

At the height of the incident, there were approximately 28 FRV firefighters at the scene, with eight appliances including both rescue and aerial units.

Thankfully the resident evacuated safely with the help of a neighbour.

The fire was declared under control in 40 minutes with the cause determined as electrical.

Ambulance Victoria were on scene to assess the resident as a precaution, and Victoria Police were present to assist with FRV operations.
