Firefighters arrived to the Carrington Street property within four minutes, following multiple calls to triple zero (000) that reported smoke and flames issuing from the roof.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection from the smoke, crews entered the building and gained access to the kitchen area.

They found a range hood on fire, with flames extending to the roof.

Swift work from almost 30 firefighters ensured the fire was contained to the kitchen, and was declared under control in less than half an hour.

Thankfully, three people evacuated the restaurant without injury.

At the height of the fire there were seven firefighting appliances including a rescue and aerial unit.

Crews will remain on scene for some time to ensure all hot spots are completely extinguished.

The cause of the fire is being determined.
