Crews responded to Turia Grove after several triple zero (000) calls noting smoke and flames coming from a single storey garage, threatening to spread to the adjoining home.

Thankfully the occupant was able to evacuate the property before firefighters arrived on scene.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus worked to bring the fire under control within half an hour.

The garage was completely destroyed in the blaze and an investigation discovered that the fire had extended to the roof space of the house.

Firefighters remained on scene until Wednesday morning to completely extinguish the fire – using thermal imaging cameras to identify any remaining hot spots.

FRV’s specialist Fire Investigators will attend on Wednesday to analyse the scene and work to determine a cause.

At the height of the incident there were seven FRV firefighting appliances at the scene and around 22 firefighters.

Victoria Police, CFA and Ambulance Victoria also attended to assist FRV crews.
