Approximately 30 firefighters are working to bring a fire at a salvage centre in Ardeer under control.
FRV and CFA crews were called to the Ballarat Road incident just before 11:10am on Thursday, after reports of smoke issuing from a building.
Firefighters arrived on scene in four minutes and evacuated one person, who they transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.
Crews are working to bring the blaze under control.
A cause has not yet been determined.
Update: Firefighters worked to contain the fire, and brought it under control at 11:59am, about 45 minutes after first arriving on scene.
Crews remained on scene to ensure there were no hotspots present and that the scene was safe.
