The response was quickly escalated following multiple triple zero (000) calls, and FRV firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes.

The fire blocked the exit at the front of the home, so seven family members evacuated to the back yard and firefighters assisted as they climbed the fence into the neighbour’s property.

The family were handed into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes and stop it from spreading further into the single storey home.

Firefighters remain on scene working to completely extinguish the fire and identify any remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

At the height of the incident there were seven FRV firefighting appliances at the scene and around 32 firefighters.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also attended to assist FRV crews.
