Smoke alarm alerts family to Middle Park house fire

FRV responded to a house fire in Middle Park just before 1am on Tuesday morning after two occupants were alerted to the blaze by their smoke alarm and evacuated.

Arriving at the Canterbury Road residence, FRV firefighters found the upper floor of the home fully alight and confirmed no one was inside.

Due to the location of the fire, firefighters used a Ladder Platform to attack the fire from above, and prevented it from spreading to neighbouring properties on both sides of the residence.

The incident was brought under control in just under two hours.

During the incident there were approximately 38 FRV firefighters on scene to attend, alongside Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police.

FRV specialist Fire Investigators will be attending in the morning to determine the cause of the fire.
