Crews arrived at 7:40am and quickly worked to extinguish the blaze at the single storey brick house which was well alight and threatening to spread to neighbouring homes.
While fighting the fire a primary search of the residence for occupants found nobody inside with Victoria Police responding to reports that two people were seen fleeing the scene earlier.
The incident was brought under control at 8:04am with crews remaining on scene for some time monitoring for hot spots.
Five Pumpers, one Rescue Unit and a Teleboom were supported by three specialist and support vehicles.
FRV is working with Victoria Police to determine cause.
