Fire Rescue Victoria extends our deepest condolences to the families and the greater wildfire community in Canada following the passing of two firefighters and a helicopter pilot earlier this month.

On 13 July, B.C. Wildfire Service firefighter Devyn Gale passed away after being struck by a falling tree while fighting a wildfire outside Revelstoke, British Columbia.

On 15 July, NWT firefighter, Adam Yeadon, tragically passed away from an injury sustained while battling a blaze near Fort Liard, in the Northwest Territories.

Helicopter pilot, Ryan Gould, was extinguishing fires in Alberta on 19 July, when his helicopter crashed.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of these individuals at this difficult time.

As Canada’s unprecedented wildfire season continues, these tragic deaths are a reminder of the risks that all firefighters face in the course of their work and their commitment to protecting communities.
