FRV crews were called to the Victoria Street incident and arrived to see smoke issuing from a large shopping centre, with an evacuation of workers and customers underway.

Once inside, crews wearing breathing apparatus moved through the centre to ensure everyone had been evacuated, and to locate the fire.

The source of the fire was found to be from a compactor machine, with FRV crews quickly bringing the scene under control in 32 minutes.

Thankfully there are no reported injuries.

Five pumpers, a teleboom, and a rescue appliance were assisted by specialist and support vehicles.

FRV was supported by Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria.
