Suspicious shop fire in Lalor

FRV firefighters were called to Lalor this morning following reports of a shop fire on May Road.

Crews were called to the premises at 6.03am and arrived within six minutes to find the shop front fully involved in fire and smoke billowing.

FRV crews contained the fire to the premises however nearby buildings have been affected by smoke.

Crews searched the property for occupants however no one was inside.

The scene was deemed Under Control at 7.12am.

Firefighters will remain on scene for several hours extinguishing hot spots.

Council Building Surveyors and Health Department representatives will attend today to inspect the premises.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and has been handed to Victoria Police for investigation.
