Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find a fire on a third floor balcony and used a powerful stream of water to extinguish the blaze from the ground.

FRV crews entered the apartment to search for residents, but found no one was at home in the apartment at the time of the fire.

At the height of the incident there were seven firefighting appliances at the scene, along with a command unit and two support units.

Thanks to the quick work of firefighters the blaze was brought under control six minutes after initial crews arrived at the scene.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted at the scene.
