Three-storey Williamstown townhouse fire under control

The Triple Zero (000) call centre received several calls regarding a chimney fire on Rifle Range Drive and Hoffman Terrace in Williamstown from 11:56am this morning.

Fire Rescue Victoria crews arrived on scene within six minutes to find a three-storey townhouse issuing smoke from the roof and immediately began to assess the scene for persons inside and the source of the blaze.

All occupants have been accounted for and evacuated while the fire was found to have escaped from the chimney. There are no injuries reported.

FRV response was quickly escalated and included an Aerial Ladder Platform. The fire was brought under control within 13 minutes.

While the fire is contained crews will be on scene for some time to extinguish the blaze and monitor for hot spots.

FRV was supported by Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria paramedics.
