Firefighters responded to a fire on Tulloch Grove in Glen Waverley just after 1:30am on Sunday morning after multiple Triple Zero (000) calls were received reporting smoke issuing from a town house.

FRV crews arrived on scene to find the garage on the ground level of a two storey town house well alight and the attached residence heavily smoke logged.

Tragically, Victoria Police has confirmed there were four fatalities. A man was also transported to hospital by Ambulance Victoria.

Approximately 35 firefighters on scene worked to bring the fire under control by 3:46am.

Occupants from neighbouring residences were evacuated as a precaution, and firefighters also inspected their properties for fire damage.

The home sustained significant fire damage and a community advice message was issued as there was a lot of smoke in the area.

FRV’s Fire Investigation Unit and Victoria Police are on scene working to determine what caused the fire to start.

Firefighters will remain on scene for some time to ensure that the fire has been completely extinguished.

At the height of the fire there were nine firefighting appliances on scene including a rescue and aerial unit, in addition to four other command and support units.
