FRV crews arrived on scene within six minutes to find the rear side of a weatherboard house involved in the blaze.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters conducted a search of the property to ensure no one was inside.

Crews attacked the fire internally, working quickly to knock down the flames.

Road closures were in place on Mount Alexander Road in both directions while emergency crews attended to the fire.

The blaze was declared under control just after 9:30am, 30 minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but FRV’s specialist fire investigators will attend the scene later today.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also assisted at the scene.
