Truck fire on Western Freeway

FRV firefighters are currently on scene following a truck fire on the Western Freeway at Derrimut.

Crews were called to the incident just before 4.15pm and arrived to find a double semi trailer ablaze inbound near the Robinsons Road exit and thick smoke billowing across the freeway.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the blaze.

It’s understood the truck was carrying timber boards.

Victoria Police is on scene assisting and the western freeway is closed inbound near Robinsons Road.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
