Westmeadows House Fire Contained

Firefighters responded to Coghill Street in Westmeadows at 2:45pm, following reports of smoke issuing from the roof of a house.

FRV crews arrived on scene within four minutes to find a two storey weatherboard home involved in the blaze.

Firefighters conducted a search of the house for occupants to ensure no one was trapped inside. Fortunately, no was was located inside the house and no injuries were reported at the scene.  

The fire was contained and was declared under control about 40 minutes after initial crews arrived at the scene.

The exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but will be investigated.

At the height of the incident there were seven firefighting appliances and a command unit at the scene.
