Yarraville house fire

More than 20 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Yarraville on Saturday morning.

A caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the fire shortly after 6.25am and crews arrived at the Drew Street scene within six minutes.

On site, firefighters found the roof of the single storey brick house was alight.

Firefighters escalated the response.

Crews worked quickly to knock down the fire, bringing it under control by 6.45am.

Firefighters remain on scene to extinguish any remaining hot spots.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics also attended the scene.

FRV’s specialist fire investigators will investigate the cause of the fire.

Update Saturday 3 April 2.10pm

The fire is believed to have been caused by pests in the roof space disturbing electrical wiring.
